Chapel Time

Based on Psalm 46:10
Take some time to reflect on these words as you prepare for our Sunday worship:

Be still and know that I am God
Be still and know that I am
Be still and know
Be still
Be

A New Creed
The United Church of Canada

We are not alone,
we live in God’s world.

We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.

Prayer of Confession

Holy and merciful God,

In Your presence
we confess our failure to be
what You created us to be.

You alone know how often we have sinned
in wandering from Your ways,
in wasting Your gifts,
in forgetting Your love.

By Your loving mercy,
help us to live in Your light
and abide in Your ways,
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior.

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Prayers of the People
As a church, we want to develop a regular rhythm
in our prayers of the people.
For this, the third Sunday of the month,
we will take time to pray & intercede
for our city, San Diego.

One of our callings as a church
is to be prayerful intercessors before God
on behalf of our city.

Let’s take a couple of moments of personal silent prayer
to lift up one business, church, organization, or individual
who is somehow impacting the greater good,
here in San Diego or around the world.

Amen.
