For the City

We are excited to share with our Anchor City family a couple of potential local presence ministry opportunities. Perhaps God is opening the doors for us to put feet to our prayers with these possibilities!

Carson Elementary

We are looking for new or almost-new donations for Carson Elementary. Small household items, lotions, soaps, etc. would make great door prizes as we seek to partner with this school.

Also, if you’re interested in taking a tour of the school to find out more and see how Anchor City can share the love of Christ there, please email info@anchorcity.org and let us know!

San Diego Refugee Tutoring

Every Tuesday, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, San Diego Refugee Tutoring (SDRT) hosts tutoring for refugees at Ibarra Elementary School in eastern City Heights. We’d love to get a group of volunteers from Anchor City to visit SDRT on an upcoming Tuesday evening to find out more.

From their site, “San Diego Refugee Tutoring works with refugee students from Ibarra Elementary and their siblings (preschool, middle school and high school). Our students have lived in the United States anywhere from one month to four years. They are Burmese/Karen/Karenni, Burundian, DR Congolese, Nepali, Iraqi, Somali, Sudanese, Mozambican, Ethiopian, and Eritrean. Most of our students speak several languages other than English.”

SDRT is also looking for donations of educational games and school supplies, specifically working with literacy and math up to 6th grade.
